We are very sorry to say that our Society has now closed
There were various reasons for this including covid, cost of staging professional grade shows, amateur theatre being blocked by larger venues plus smaller venue and rehearsal space options reducing. In addition, members used to be very committed to their group of friends and would support whatever show the committee decided to put on. They would also engage in various social activities, indeed their whole friendship circle would revolve around the group. Gradually in recent years, this attitude was replaced by one whereby performers would simply move around groups to be in whatever show they fancied rather than remain loyal. This obviously resulted in core membership being diminished and replaced by transient persons with no care for the Society only their own narcisism. Sadly, all of these things makes the staging of shows even more difficult and together put more nails in the coffin. There are a few other groups in the wider area but many others have also closed down for the same reasons. Amateur theatre is a wonderful and comparatively cheap hobby and we wish you good luck in finding a group
To find other groups you can check noda.org.uk who lists groups that may or may not be still in existence.
